Low Disk Space every time I startup?

Every time I start my computer it says I have low disk space on Drive D. So
I run the disk cleanup option and delete the filkes for the recycle bin.
Then it does the same thing next time I startup?

I think that this may be happening because you have low disk space on drive
D:

How big is drive D:?
How much of drive D: is free space?
(HINT: Right click D: in Windows Explorer.)

5.69 mb free of 9.44 gb, so it is full, but what fills it up? When it ask me
to clean it, it only shows recycle bin in D. But when I look, there is lot's
of stuff on it besides recycle bin.

Sounds like it may be the factory restore stuff for your system. So,
it's not for general-purpose use and it doesn't matter that it has
very little free space, but Vista doesn't know that :)

Some reading for you..

http://www.watchingthenet.com/windows-low-disk-space-warning-notification.html

Has the computer always warned you? If it hasn't, then something has been
added to the recovery partition (D).. you may have done this inadvertently,
maybe saved something there, installed a program or split the page file over
multiple drives..

If you want to keep the partition intact, and just want to get rid of the low
space warnings:

Control Panel (Classic view) > Administrative Toots > Computer Management >
highlight Disk Management in the left pane > right
click in the right pane on the D partition and select Change Drive Letter and
Paths > Click the Remove button > click OK

If you want to access the volume later, you can reassign a drive letter. The
data on the disk will not be damaged.

Apologies for being in the wrong place. Can't Find a Subject box to type a

Turned off shadow copy and "D" drive stopped filling up. Guess it was
writing to it everytime I accessed a file. Seems to have stopped "Low Disk
Space" messages.

You may want to describe your computer. Is drive D: a separate physical hard
drive, a partition on a HD, a CD drive?

It's a brand new Acer Aspire 5050 Notebook, 766 MB RAM, 60 GB harddrive, and
the problematic Drive is preinstalled (not separate) as "DVD RW Drive (E:)"
under "Devices with Removable Storage" (Start/Computer). I have used one
Install CD successfully in it with no problem (for my printer driver), but it
says there is zero free space and won't let install any other CD. The
Install CD can't have used up all the space [Note: the printer works fine],
but I can't find any tips anywhere on how to "open" this seemingly locked
drive E or otherwise fix the problem. And I don't know why it's Drive E
instead of Drive D. Thanks for any help!

Hi all (not sure if i should of started a few thread/post).
I recently bought windows vista ultimate,2.13ghz,2gb ram and 250gb of hard
drive
I’ve got a D:drive where i backup my files but its getting full now (4.04gb
free of 9.99gb)
Looked in help and support centre but could only find one solution ie disk
cleanup.
I have tried disk cleanup but it seems that it’s not doing anything.
Ie it’s still 4.04gb free of 9.99gb.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanking you for your help inadvance.
Paul.

Your D drive is most likely a Recovery Partition set up at the factory to enable
you to restore your computer to a factory shipped condition. You should not use
it for anything else. If you made a set of recovery DVDs from the partition,
you can delete it and expand C to take up the space.

greetings Cal Bear 66
Control panel> System & Maintenance.
The “backup your computerâ€link.
the help and support centre says.. “Do not back up files to the same hard
disk that Windows is installed on.â€and that is on C:drive.
I’ve got a RECOVERY D drive which i can BACK UP all my files,i think shadow
copies goes there as well.
I’ve read what the help and support center had to say about the D :DRIVE 1.5
hrs worth of reading
And am SURE this is what’s it for.THERE IS NO OPTION once there to back it
up to C:DRIVE only a few other drives DVD-RW and a few REMOVABLE drives.
Help.
Paul.

How big is your D drive? Is it around 10GB or so. Then it is NOT really big
enough to be used for backups anyway. No shadow copies go there. It is a
RESTORE partition: to RESTORE your computer to a factory shipped condition. Do
not use Windows Help and Support -- read the documentation that came with your
computer, it should provide you with instructions on how to make RECOVERY DVDs,
and then you can delete it and expand C to take up the space.

External hard drives are the best to use for backups -- both file backups and
complete PC backups!

cal bear 66, the D:drive is 9.99GB,i thought i had two individual seperate
drive's is D drive a partion.
i've got a OS cd as well as dell's own factory reset installed on the
computer. the computer documentation i have read over and over again throught
contents to index but can't find nothing. (WHY?).
i double clicked the D:drive icon in my computer and found the backup files
there
in a folder named after my computer.
the folder had the same number of backup's i done over the first few weeks i
started 15, the last backup folder had the correct date and time as my
actually backup that i did which was about two/three days ago.
i looked in a couple of folder's but did'nt understand the contents of
them.so i never
deleted them.
nice touch with the external hard drives recomendation.
am still a bit losted.
any help would be much appreciated as always.
