Low color depth on XP Embedded

Pedro Andreso

Hi,

I'm building a Windows XP Embedded image for a terminal. My goal is to
boot the machine and open a remote desktop session for the user. I'm able to
boot the machine and to start the remote desktop session, but my screen has
a low color depth. Graphics drivers are installed (ATI RAGE XL PCI,
according do TAP.exe), I'm able to change the resolution of screen (in
Target Designer) but no high color... (although in Target Designer color
depth is set do 24bits). Can anyone help me?

Best regards,

Pedro,

You probably read this but still, from XPe Rel Notes: "
a.. For the Remote Desktop client to connect to a Windows XP Embedded Terminal Server at high color (24-bit) add the
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Terminal Server\WinStations\RDP-Tcp registry key.
The default value must be changed from 3 to 4 in the Terminal Server Remote Desktop component.

".
