Lotus Freelance 4.0 DOS

I'm a newbie. Years ago I used Lotus Freelance 4.0 (DOS version) on a
computer so old it used gerbils on a ferris wheel to power it. I used to
make hundreds of detailed drawings, sketches, etc. I LOVED that program! I
got so good with it I could duplicate some operations faster than it could be
done using Boeing's CAD/CAM stuff. I've also used the Freelance for Windows
version but do not like it any where near as well. (Can't see what I'm doing
as clearly as I could with the DOS version).

I'd like to know if I can run Freelance 4.0 DOS on Windows XP. Yes / No?
If yes, what do I do? How do I load it? What do I need?

Thanks. Answer when/if you have time.

Probably yes. Don't expect it to be fast however.

The only way to really know is try it !

Thanks. Appreciate it. But what do you mean "don't expect it to be fast"?
It never was fast by today's standards, but so long as it works I'll be
satisfied. Being a newbie, perhaps what I should have asked is "Is it
possible to run DOS programs on Windows XP and if so, what kinds of things
should I (a newbie) expect to encounter or be aware of, etc."

Again, thank you for your reply.

Since WinXP is NOT DOS it has to emulate DOS, DOS programs run slower under WinXP. Some
more than others and there may be "quirks" due to the emulation.

I do understand about Lotus Freelance Plus. I used to use Lotus Freelance back in the 80s and I feel in love with it also. I cannot find Lotus Freelance Plus 4.0 for DOS anywhere. I know a way you can run that DOS version in any version of Windows. Let make a deal. I would love to get a copy of that from you ASAP and I will give you the tools and knowledge to get Lotus Freelance Plus 4.0 to work for you. I am working on a project at work and I need to sketch some stuff in a hurry. I got pretty good with Lotus back in the day also. And I agree, the Windows version is not good.
