Lost Reply, Reply To All and Forward buttons

Hello

I have a user when he open an email, no "Reply, Reply To All and Forward"
buttons appear. I did everything I could think of or was advised of to no
avail. I also reset his profile. Is there any key in the registry to alter ?

Thanks

Because the registry editor is the engine of the interface GUI.
Second, you referred to a link which itself mentions the registry.

Clearly English is not your first (or even second) language and you don't
know how to read it.

I am a bit surprised by your comments. I was not expecting these comments
from an MVP. My understanding is that Microsoft award this distinction to
exceptional people. When you left the technical issue which is about outlook
and moved to a personal attack, this, in my view, should be put, as a
complaint, to Microsoft. Just to clarify this for you: I have no complex to
say that it is true my English is not my first language. But the question
is: is it required of me to have my English as my first language prior to
coming here?

I will make sure that a formal complaint will be lodged to whom it may
concern at Microsoft with the emphasis that your comments have racist
connotation.

Best

Racist? Huh?

I read the document Robert referenced. No where in it does it mention doing
anything with registry settings. I'll grant that the word "registry" is
contained in the document, but that doesn't mean what you seem to want it to
mean: that there is a registry setting governing what you claim is
controlled in the registry. There isn't and it should have been clear from
reading that document that there is no registry setting that controls the
buttons on the Outlook windows, as you want to insist. Therefore, I could
only conclude that you couldn't grasp the meaning of what you were reading.

Because the registry editor is the engine of the interface GUI.
Nope, it's not. The registry is only a method of registering components and
a method of storing application settings (next to other methods like
file-based). The GUI of an application is determined by how the application
is programmed (installation files) and/or Windows components. There is
nothing graphical about the registry.
Second, you referred to a link which itself mentions the registry.
Yes, but it does not mention that you need to make changes to the registry.
Only your registry cache-file might be corrupt. Resetting that file will
collect the original (non-modified) registry again.

Brian didn't attack you. Although he didn't make a technical contribution
either, he did made a valid observation and you acknowledged it. There is
nothing racist about that. In fact, how does he know your race? How do you
know his? How do you know that it is different? Your native language doesn't
tell your race. In this newsgroup, it's all Plain Text to me :-D
But the question
is: is it required of me to have my English as my first language prior to
coming here?
No, English is not my native language either but that was not the point, nor
the question.

So if you consider us experts, why did you dismiss my answer again? Note
that in the way you did it, I could consider you being very rude. If you
didn't understand it because it was in English, simply tell us where you get
lost and we try again. If you tell us your native language we can also point
you to a localized newsgroup. If there are no Outlook experts there, surely
you must be able to find someone who can translate my guide to you.

Hi Best,

Does the issue with all the emails that the user received?

When you save the problematic email as a *.msg file and then move it to another computer. Drag the *.msg file to Outlook on the other
computer. Can you view the Reply button in the problematic email?

Based on my experience, this issue may occur when the email sender add a custom form in the email message and removed the Reply,
Reply to All and Forward button. Thus, when the receiver receives the email, they cannot view the Reply button.

Follow the steps below to fix the issue.

#1 check if the issue is caused by the specific emails
---------------------
Ask the user to come into Outlook safe mode (exit Outlook > click Start > Run > type outlook /safe, click OK.). Under outlook safe
mode, all the custom forms, addins, views and etc are disabled.
Create a new email and send it to himself.
Open the new test email. Can he see the Reply button?

If so, go to step 2.

#2 Check the custom forms on the sender's Outlook
---------------------
Ask the sender of the problematic emails to perform the steps below.

If the sender is also using Outlook, ask the sender go to the Tools menu > Options > Other > Advanced > Custom Forms > Manage
Forms > delete all the custom forms.
Send another test email to the user.
Ask the user open the email. Can he view the Reply button.

If the above steps don't fix the issue, please save the problematic message as *.msg file and send to me at (e-mail address removed).
Thanks.

If anything is unclear or if you have any other concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Emily Lin
