Lost my slave hard drive

I have a 2.00 Gig AMD Athlon 64 with two hard drives, which have worked
perfectly until yesterday when the "slave" suddenly disappeared.
At the time I was working with the master drive merging data from two
partitions using Partition Magic 7.
I felt brave enough to check the BIOS and found that the detection of the
drives are on "Auto". There suddenly is no second hard drive.The BIOS is a

If the drive is not visible in the BIOS, you do not have a Windows problem,
you have a hardware problem.
Troubleshooting steps:
1.) Reseat both ends of the ribbon cable (e.g. at Drive, and at MoBo)
2.) Reseat the power cable plugged into the drive
3.) If all else fails, plug the drive into a different computer and see it
that MoBo recognizes it in its BIOS
