Lost my Quick Launch toolbar

Somehow I've managed to loose my Quick Launch toolbar.
I've tried right clicking the Taskbar & selecting - Toolbars - Quick Launch,
but it doesn't do anything. I've also right clicked the Taskbar, selected
Properties & selected Show Quick Launch from the Taskbar & Start Menu
Properties but again nothing happens (the Taskbar is unlocked).
I've followed some of the other answers on the Community & still can't find
a solution. The Quick Launch folder (with the icons for Show Desktop & Switch
Between Windows) is where it should be on the C Drive -
C:\Users\Default\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch
I recently had to do a Reset with Internet Explorer 7 - could that have done
something as it dissapeared around the same time ?
Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks Bob,

Tried the System Restore 5 times using different restore points back as far
as I have them & when the computer re-boots I get:-

"System Restore did not complete successfully. Your computer's system files
& settings were not changed.
Details
An unspecified error occurred during system restore"

So I can't restore to an earlier point.
Should I shoot it now?
Any help would be welcome

I've had that happen with System Restore too, some software was interfering
with System Restore. You still have two options which might work. You can
try running System Restore in safe mode and you can also try running System
Restore from a command prompt (safe mode boot option).

Thanks everyone for your help.
I managed to get System Restore to work ok, it was Norton 360 that was
stopping it. If you open Norton 360, select Tasks & Setting at the top
right, select Change Advance Settings then on the screen that opens un-tick
Norton 360 Protection. Then System Restore works ! Remember to switch it back
on afterwards.
So, having got System Restore to work it rolled it back to a point where my
Quick Launch toolbar was back in the world of the living !!
Still can't hide the Taskbar by draging it to the bottom of the screen, but
hey, you can't have everything !!
Many thanks again to all who offered help.

To avoid future problems get rid of Norton ASAP!
Replace with AVG or Avast...both are free.
