Hi- I hope someone can help please..I lost all my mail msgs altough the
folders are still there. I was attempting to get rid of a hung up email in my
out box and I was reading the thread on this forum entitled The propertys of
this message cannot be displayed. I deleted the WindowsMail.MSMessageStore
file and the backup file..I tried to restore from recycle and I got my
folders back with no msgs in them..Under recovered messages there were a few
folders that had info but not all of them...Please help

What you need to do is to search for *.eml. The should be under directories
that match the folder names in WinMail. Once you find a directory of eml
files, then open WinMail and create a new folder. Then open that folder so
it has an empty message list. Then select the eml files in Explorer and
drag them overtop the WinMail message list and drop them and they will be
incorporated in the folder, but only if they are only eml files.

You can also try File | Import | Messages and choose WinMail format and see
if that works.

See the Winmail section here: www.oehelp.com/backup.aspx#wm for details.

And you need to update to Vista SP1 to fix the initial problem.

Steve Thanks for helping..I cannot find any eml files..I used search option
and typed in *.eml with no success. I also searched in the recovered files
under winmail recoverd folders..I found about 20% of the folders with
messages OK but cannot find any of the others..The import did not work
either..It said it could not find any files associated with search..I used
Winmail option to import..Any other ideas to try or other places to look..All
files from recycle have been restored (although not the way they were
deleted)...Thanks

If you can't find the eml files, then they are gone. For the future make
sure that you disable email scanning for any antivirus software you have,
which could have contributed to the loss, but its not clear exactly what you
did.
