Lost lower part of desktop

This may be the dumbest question I've ever asked, but where did the lower
part of my desktop go? When I maximize any window the bottom part of the
screen disappears behind my taskbar. So if there are any navigation
buttons, etc, there, I cannot get to them until I restore down and move the
window.

What's going on here?

When you hover the mouse over icons in the sys tray or in the Quick
Launch, do the descriptions appear behind the bar? If so, you've used
the Show Desktop in the Quick Launch. If that's the case, reboot and
don't use that icon anymore (known bug) and use the Windows Key + D or M
to minimize all your windows.

No, that wasn,t it, but i appreciate your effort.

As it turns out, I just grabbed the top part of the taks bar and pulled
downward. It did not readjust the taskbar as I expected, but the bottom of
the window popped back up where it's supposed to be. I have no idea what
that was.
