Lost File...please help!!!

My daughter sent me an excel spreadsheet via email attachment. I opened the
attachment and entered a ton of stuff in the spreadsheet. I forgot that I
had just accessed the file through the email attachment and when I was
finished I just clicked "save" not "save as". Now I can't find the
spreadsheet anywhere. The one that I had opened in the email is just as it
was before I entered all my information. Is there any way I can find it????
I did a file search but turned up nothing. Hope someone can help me...it
took 2 hrs to enter all the data!!! Thanks!

Sometimes, you can click on File and see the last x number of files you've
worked on at the bottom of that dropdown.

You can increase the size of that list:
tools|options|General tab|check recently used file list and make it as large as
you can

Sometimes, you can see the last few windows documents you've worked on via:
Windows Start button|Documents

You may be able to find the document in your windows temporary internet files
folder(s).

I do this:
Start Internet explorer
Tools|Internet Options|General tab
Browsing History Section|Click settings
Then click View Files

sort by date (or extension or whatever helps you search for that .xls file)

You have made changes to the attachment that is still attached to the email.

Save the attachment to the desktop and open it up and your changes should be
there.

Get into a habit of only working on a copy of any attached file which you
have saved to a hard drive. It can save a lot of hassle or potential
heartbreak later.
