Lost Favorites

Need help w/ ie 6 favorites. Can only access most recently stored links. The
previously stored favorites and folders don't appear. When I try to re-store
a previously stored site, the previous folders appear. Then told that the
favorite is already stored in the selected folder. Any help most appreciated.

Hi Martin :)

Try the following and see if it helps:

Display all the links on the favorites menu
Bookmark Wizard http://www.moonsoftware.com/freeware.asp
AMdead Link http://www.aignes.com/products.htm

Open Registry Editor and navigate to this location:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User
Shell Folders]
In the right-pane, double-click "Favorites" and copy the value and post it
here.

The correct value should be: "%USERPROFILE%\Favorites"

or........................

Use FolderRedirector utility and reset the shell folder paths for Favorites
to the default values (both user shell folders and shell folders registry
keys)

In XP..there is a local user policy for Favorites, and there is a check box
to delete the Favorites and only use the Favorites provided in the policy.
Check to be sure this setting is not selected.

Favorites menu is abbreviated

Go to Tools > Internet Options > Advanced, then scroll down Settings to
"Enable
Personalized Favorites Menu" and disable this feature. Click on Apply & OK.

Favorites no longer there

It might be an incorrect Registry setting:

You can change the value of Favorites in the Registry in these
two keys: (ignore the second if the value is not there)

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell
Folders

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User
Shell Folders

and...

It could also be that the Favorites folder is corrupted and you will need to
create a new one:

Create a new Favorites folder as per the instructions here
http://inetexplorer.mvps.org/answers3.htm#favorites

Hope this helps
