Lost delayed-write data

John K

In noticed three recurring events ID messages in my events
log that may be identifying a problem that I can't seem to
solve. First the problem: Lost delayed-write data, Which
is an Event ID 50 problem. It means My hard drive is not
saving data.

The events log always have the following notations, 1st an
ID 4:unable to create the symbolic link to \Device\Serial0.
2nd ID 4281: Unable to allocate required resources.
Initializtion failed. 3rd, the ID 50 Message thats
mentioned above.

Device\Serial0

Good news is I don't believe this is a hard drive problem. The clue is the
\Device\Serial0, this is a reference to a serial port not a drive. However
I have never seen this type of error before. This could be a registry
problem or I suspect it is related to some software that was installed or
maybe more likely uninstalled and did not clean up itself correctly. Can
you think of anything you have or had that used serial ports as I would
start there. An example would be Palm software for syncing.
