Lost CD Key for Windows XP Pro

Does anyone have any idea what to do when you lose your
cd key to XP PRO upgrade?

I need to reformate HD, and then do the upgrade, How do I
get past the CD Key, or get the key from MS?

If Windows XP is still on the computer:
Follow this link:

Near the bottom "View Product Key XP"

Otherwise if Windows XP is retail contact Microsoft:

If Windows XP is OEM, contact the seller, Microsoft can not help with
OEM.
