Lost account access when removed from domain ...

The subject isn't as stupid as it sounds ...

I've physically removed my computer from a domain network, so in light
of this I logged on as the local Adminstrator and removed the
references to the domain.

The old domain account files still reside in "Documents and Settings"
but of course their isn't an account on the local machine that uses
them.

Is their a way to create an account in Win2000 Professional to use an
existing (and currently defunct) account profile ("Documents and
Settings\jblow" ex.)?

Thanks for any help.

You can use the Copy To function to mirror the profile. Logon at least once
after disjoining the domain. Then while logged on as another user (with
administrative rights) Control Panel|System|User Profiles, select your
userprofile.domainname, Copy To, Browse to
%systemdrive%\Documents and Settings\userprofile.local
Change "Permitted to use:" to "userprofile.local" OK.

I too removed my computer from the PDC domain, while at the same time adding
my computer to a workgroup. I tried the "copy to" function but that didn't
work.

When I try to log in I don't see the PDC domain, so I login as admin. It
seems like I should be able to just add myself back to the domain, but when I
do this it says, "the credentials supplied conflict with an existing set of
credentials".

What can I do to make my computer lose the workgroup and become part of the
domain again?

thank you in advance

You can't have resources mapped from/to the same resource with different
credentials. Try from a command prompt;
net use * /delete
then join
