Lost ability to print

I have a lan at home with 2 computers (win2000). I
brought home an old network printer (HP5SI) and plugged it
into the lan. I gave it an IP 192.168.8.20 with subnet
255.255.255.0. I was able to print for a few weeks from
either machine by setting up a local printer port using
tcp/ip. My company switched vpn connections from network
connection to aventail 5.3. At that point I lost my
ability to connect to the printer. I also can't connect
between computers any more. This all happens without
aventail even running. I can ping all around without a
problem.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Mark

it could be that the vpn is overriding local ip address, though you say you
cant print even when its not running and you can ping. is it feasible to
hook it up locally to one computer and share it to other?

Your statement made me think. I looked in the processes
running and aventail wasn't loaded yet. I can print. My
guess is when I run aventail to make my connection it
leaves a process open that blocks my ability to print.

Thanks,

Mark
