loss of resolution when playing avi files in PPT show

Avi files inserted into and viewed in a PPT show are severely degraded (like
watching a bad fax copy). Are there any other suggestions for improving the
viewing quality of avi/movie/video files in a PPT show besides the following
two?

1. Using PFCMedia
2. Scaling

The first option showed improvement, but not enough - especially on movies
that included typed text
The second option doesn't help at all

Candace,

You might want to try PFCPro instead of PFCMedia as it has user selectable
quality settings available. (Try "best").

Just keep in mind that you are recompressing an existing file and no matter
what you will never be able to make it better than the original. Can you
use a utility like "G-Spot" to determine what codec(s) are being used in the
AVI? Your system may be using the wrong one for playback inside PowerPoint.
