losing mapped drives - HELP!!!

M

mac44

I have a couple of XP desktops that lose their mapped
network drives sporadically. I have tried to pinpoint
when this happens, but can't find a trend. The mappings
are loaded at login in the .bat file. Other users don't
seem to have this problem (they are a mix of WIN
versions).

Any suggestions? - I disabled hibernation, but that did
not work.

Thanks in advance!

I also made sure the internet connection firewall was disabled, and it was (did this based on another post) but the problem persists. I see numerous posts about this problem, but no replies. Does anyone have a resolution?

I got this somewhere. I don't map drives, so don't ask. Here it is
Net use commands
SYMPTOMS: You find that the network drive mapping may be disconnected after
15 minutes of inactivity and Windows Explorer may display a red "X" on the
icon of the mapped drive. However, if you double-click it reconnects
quickly.

RESOLUTION: by default, idle connections will be dropped after 15 minutes.
To modify idle time, at a command prompt using net config server
/autodisconnect: minutes. For example, to set the Autodisconnect value to
30 minutes, you would run the following command line: net config server
/autodisconnect:30. If you would like to turn Autodisconnect off, do net
config server /autodisconnect:-1

Use the persistent switch after you capture it.
net use lpt1 \\computer\sharename /persistent:yes
