Looking for CDEX Replacement

Can't get the newest 1.51 to run on my pristine W98FE system. I've read
a few other disparaging remarks in other newsgroups, and my experience
proves them out.

So, what I'm looking for is a format converter--MP3 to WAV, WAV to MP3.
A rip function would be a plus, though not essential.

Thanks.

Wait to 1.52 before replacing...., or stay at 1.50.

There are no any improvements in 1.51 concerning ripping/encoding, so....what's
the problem with version 1.50?

Or you can try EAC + RazorLame

MANY THANKS to all who replied!

Let me try to cover the questions and suggestions, then on to a
solution!

gorjan: the last version I had was 1.4, and I couldn't get that to run
on my main system. Figured since it was old it needed replacing.
Downloaded 1.51, and it got a BSOD right off the bat.

All others: I will check the various suggested proggies out--did
download dbpoweramp, but haven't tried it.

Now, to the solution. I went to the CDEX website, looking for a link to
tech support, or a way to report my problem. Discovered that they host
several forums, one of which is a user experience/gripe forum. I found
a post about the VERY problem I was having.

Seems the CDRIP.DLL file in version 1.51 is defective. The poster
suggested copying that file from 1.50 or older edits, and replace the
1.51 file. He even had a copy of the file on his website so that folks
won't have to download 1.50 if they don't have it. The happy news is: I
downloaded the file, copied it to my newly installed 1.51, and IT WORKS
LIKE A CHAMP!!!!
