long repeating beeps

A7S333 mobo with an Athlon XP2400 CPU. System had been up and running
for a week with 256mb of Micron pc2700 RAM and a Trident Blade 3D AGP
video card.
Came in today and the system was off. Tried to boot, and the PC won't
post, keep getting the long repeating beeps that imply RAM issues.
Swapped out the RAM with known good memory, same problem. Tried
swapping out video card with PCI card, same problem. Swapped out
power supply too. Don't have another motherboard or processor to swap
out. Can the repeating beeps mean the processor has gone bad, or that
there is some kind of problem with the mobo?

Unlikely it's the CPU that's bad. More likely the motherboard failed. It's
somewhat common.

It's probably the motherboard. A similar thing happened to me with the
same motherboard. I took out a stick of ram to reinstall win98 and put
it back in wrong somehow. I got the same repeating long beeps. I tried
both sticks of ram in another computer and they worked fine. Bought
another a7s333 motherboard on ebay for about $30 and it works great with
a 2500xp.

Try the ram in a different slot.
Reset bios and check memory and cpu clocks.
