Logitech wireless keyboard/mouse issue

I installed the Navigator Duo, and both mouse and keyboard
worked fine. I turned off my IBM laptop, came back the
next morning, and neither the wireless keyboard nor my
laptop keyboard worked. I lost access to the laptop
because the control-alt-delete keystrokes necessary to get
me to my password screen were not recognized.
Is there any way around this problem -- loss of keyboard?
I am comfortable working in DOS, so if there is a way
around, I am desperate to find it.
Thanks.

Okay, first the simple things:

- Did you check the receiver is still attached to both the keyboard and
mouse PS/2 ports?

- If you're connecting the receiver to a USB port, the keyboard and
mouse are unusable until the OS loads the USB drivers for them. Some
BIOS'es have support for USB keyboards and mice but many do not. Does
the keyboard not even work at the start of booting up just after the
POST so you cannot even get into BIOS?

- USB-connected keyboards and mice are unusable when the system is
sleeping in Standby mode. USB keyboards and mice cannot be used to wake
the system from Standby. You'll have to reboot, or hope the Power or
other button can be used to awaken the computer.

- Did you try replacing the batteries in the keyboard and mouse?

- Did you first press the reconnect button on the receiver followed by
pressing the reconnect (or sync) button on the keyboard and mouse?

- Have you yet tried booting Windows into Safe mode?
