Login to my administrator account from different partition

Hello,

I have two partition running onto one 250 gb harddrive and I want to access
my private document adminstrator account from orginal C drive from d
partition . I do not want to copy all my documents files to another partition
as it has 5 gb storage space left and my documents from C: is using 25 gb of
storage space.

Also what should I do to get files like word doc to open Microsoft Word from
C: drive than opening up word pad to view the document?

Do you have just one instance of Windows XP, say on Drive C: ?
If yes, then access to data is simply modifying the ACL (Access
Control Listing) tables to add the username and then grant privileges
(Full). If you are using XP Home Edition you'll need to boot to a
Safe mode session to have access to the Security (TAB) on folders
and files.

As to the 2nd question ( Which makes me assume you've got two
XP setups) you need to change the Default Action for file type .Doc.
However, if Word isn't installed in a 2nd XP instance then you can't
assign open actions to a non-existent application.

Your post is a little unclear on the PC setup/config, so it's hard to
"Read between the Lines".

AFAIK as they are both Windows XP partitions, if you log on in either of the
instances of XP as an Admin, then all the files on the other partition will
be visible to you...

Just out of interest, would you like to tell us just WHY you have two
instances of XP Home on two separate partitions on the same machine?

No, you can't log onto your account in a different operating system from
another operating system. You will need to reboot into the operating
system that you want to use.

So why do you need TWO instances of the OS? Just use a separate partition
for your work data. Don't over-complicate things!

Why do you think that requires two separate installations of Windows?
