login screen reappears after drives map

B

Bill Jones

I have a Win2K professional PC with a user's account that
seems to accept his password and proceed through the login
process normally. It flies through the "mapping network
drives" portion abnormally fast, though, flashes a couple
of messages very quickly (normal logout message) and then
returns to the login screen promting for a password.

This account has admin privs but I don't have any other
accounts on the PC I can attempt a login through. I ran
the emergency repair process and performed the fast
repair, but it did nothing to help. It looks like my only
access to the drive is through the recovery console or by
installing the drive as a slave in another system.

Any ideas on how to salvage the account and settings
without a reinstall?

Thanks,
Bill
