Login Screen Freeze

My computer does the usual boot up, goes through the Windows load screen
fine. It then goes to the Windows blue Welcome login screen, but nothing
shows up. You can see and move the mouse cursor, but that is all. Just sits
there. I was on my computer last night and it was working fine. I installed
nothing new and only did my usual routine (listen to music and talk to
friends). I really can't see any reason for it to be doing this so randomly
but it is.

I have tried booting up in safe mode, but it goes through the same thing.
Blue welcome screen and stalls. I was wondering if there is a way to do a
system restore before logging onto windows. I can't find my windows CD at the
moment so I'm kinda screwed on that one so I'm checking for other ways at the
moment.

Hi Gst,

Do you have automatic logon configured, and changed the user account
password lately. Anyway, try this:

Press and hold the SHIFT key down when you see the Welcome Screen. This
prevents automatic logon and the user names are shown. Now, try logging on
to your user account.

If you're unable to logon to your account, then try using the Administrator
logon. Press CTRL+ALT+DEL twice, and login as in-built Administrator
(Username is "administrator", and the password is blank by default). Run a
System Restore rollback from there.
