Log on Failure - Can't share files.

I have 4 computers networked, with the internet connection on computer A. All
computers can connect to the internet, and computers B, C and D can all
access each other's shared files and can 'see' computer A in the workgroup.
Computer A can also access all the other computer's shared files.
The other computers cannot access the shared files on Computer A. When they
try, they get the "Logon Failure: the user has not been granted the requested
logon type at this computer" message. All computers are running Xp Pro with
sp1.
A reply to a similar post here mentioned a security fix for XP Pro. Can
anyone tell me how to apply this fix please.

All computers have simple file sharing enabled, firewall is not enabled on
the home network connection, and there is only one account on each computer.
In the security settings, all computers have network access set to 'Guest
only - local users authenticate as guest'.

Run the Network Setup Wizard on Computer A. That's sometimes all
that's necessary.

If that doesn't fix the problem:

1. Click Start | Run, type "secpol.msc" in the box, and click OK.

2. Click Local Policies.

3. Click User Rights Assignment.

4. Click "Access this computer from the network" and make sure
that the Everyone group is included.

5. Click "Deny access to this computer from the network" and
make sure that the Everyone group is NOT included.

In 'Access this computer from the network, nothing was listed and Everyone
isn't an option. I was able to search the network and add all of the other
computers individually, but when I click apply, I get a message saying
'Failed to save local policy database'.
The users are listed when I close the local security wondow, but when I
re-open it, it has a row of boxes (the ones that come up when it can't
display the characters).
In 'Deny Accesss to this computer from the network', it had SUPPORT_388945a0.
That was also listed in 'Deny logon locally', along with guest. I tried
deleting both of those, but it still won't save the users in 'Allow access'.

SUPPORT_388945a) is also listed for 'Logon as a batch job'

On computer A, make sure no firewall is installed. If so, uninstall it. If
it's the XP built-in firewall, disable it.

click Start, click Run, type
net user guest /active:yes

click ok.

click Start, click Run, type
Regedit (click OK)
Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\LSA

Ensure RestrictAnonymous is set to 0 (not 1)

You can't add computers to the list. You can only add user accounts
and user groups that are defined on the local computer.

To add the Everyone group:

1. Click "Add User or Group".

2. Type this in the "Enter the object names to select" box,
substituting the actual computer name for "computer":
