an exclusion for the ppt extension. We weren't happy about it but it seemed
to let us open up the files from the share. But then we started seeing
issues with Excel. We decided to unstall the server client for Symantec and
then re-install it again (bad update maybe) So far so good. I'll be testing
it over the weekend remotely just to see how we hold up. Hope this helps
someone.
Undoubtedly it will ... thanks for posting, and please do keep us updated as
you learn more.
As far as excluding PPT, you'll want to be sure of your users' PPT Macro
Security settings. At the very least, they should be set to Medium rather than
Low. On Medium, PPT will ask before opening presentations with macros. Since
many users will say Yes to almost anything, High might be a better choice. You
can still allow them to run installed add-ins, but macros will be disabled in
other presentations.
The only other security issue that PPT poses is embedded objects; those are
tougher to secure against, but I'm not certain that the AV software's doing
anything about them in any case.
Does anybody know?
