Locking Windows & The Welcome Screen

Thanasi

I have two machines, one runs XP Home, the other runs XP
Pro. On each PC, i only have one administrator account
set up, and no guest accounts. The one with Home does
not require a password to log in to windows, but the one
with PRO does. My question is, how come when I use the
window key + "L" to lock my computers, the one with Home
takes me to the welcome screen, where the one with Pro,
just displays a dialog box. I want to set it up, so when
I lock windows on the PC running pro, it takes me to the
welcome screen for me to put in my password and unlock
it. Thanks.

You need to turn on the welcome screen in Control Panel - User Accounts - Change How Users Log Off and On.

Let me recommend ActiveScreenLock, a program that can perform locking
functions of log on screen in WinXP, but it can be customized to your
needs. You can choose wallpaper, transparency (you'll be able to
monitor running applications, while PC is locked). It can show clock
and date, log invalid attempts to login, etc. The program is easily
launched with one click.

information about ActiveScreenLock. Or just download it here:
