Locked drive

XP Home on c: drive
XP Professional on d: drive
2nd to 5th month displays the blue screen alot for the XP pro, not XP Home.
After I boot into XP Home first, then I can startup XP Pro.

My problem in XP pro::

C:\>chkdsk /f
The type of the file system is NTFS.
Cannot lock current drive.

Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another
process. Chkdsk may run if this volume is dismounted first.
ALL OPENED HANDLES TO THIS VOLUME WOULD THEN BE INVALID.
Would you like to force a dismount on this volume? (Y/N) n

Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another
process. Would you like to schedule this volume to be
checked the next time the system restarts? (Y/N) n

Any ideas??

Thanks,
T.

This is normal for XP. Chkdsk needs exclusive control of the system to run a check. Simply type in Y at the Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by anothe
process. Would you like to schedule this volume to b
checked the next time the system restarts? (Y/N)
Then all you have to do is reboot and let it run. Good luck. {:~

Ideas? Yes.
Your C:-drive is your boot drive even if the rest of the system is running
from D:
So on the last question answer yes to have chkdsk perform the disktest at
next boot.
