Hello!

We have just upgraded to Excel 2007 and are experiencing some challenges.
We have a .xls file wich where used by some 10 users throughout the day. We
experienced that when one user used the .xls and we tried to open it we got a
message the the file is locked by [windows username]

However, we have now upgraded to Excel 2007 and converted to a .xlsm file.
Now we get the same message but only a dot where the username used to be.

Help please :=)

Is the problem that you can't see the username, or that the file is
locked?

If the problem is the username, here's a solution from an old NG post:

Office button > Excel options > General tab > type in new user name in
user name box.

If the problem is that the file is locked, you can either share it
(which I don't recommend) or contact the other user and ask them to
close the file so it can be used by others.
