Lockdown desktops

My school is using Fortres to restrict access and changes to the computers in
the computer labs. I would like to know if we can do the same things in
Windows 2000 Professional without using a 2000/2003 server domain. Any help
would be greatly appreciated.

I've got the perfect solution for you. Check out the Public Access Computer
Security Tool. It is hosted at www.pacomputing.org. This is a support site
for computers from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. These computers can
be found in thousands of libraries across the country. We made the tool
publicly available for everyone. A discussion forum can be found at
www.SecurePC.org. I'm the developer for this product and any
feedback/criticism is welcome. Just make sure to follow the instructions if
your new to using this thing. XP Pro users need to set a local security
policy before installing, but 2k Pro is good to go out of the box.

Have fun and let me know what you think by posting at www.securepc.org.
This is the first time I've announced this tool outside the library
community.

Hi Colin!

Thanks for posting the website for your tool. LOTS of people are looking for
help on locking down a desktop. --- Steve
