Lock my Keyboard

I have a Sony Vaio computer. I have Windows XP and would like to know how to
lock my keyboard!! I did a search before coming here. One of the results was
a list of keyboard shortcuts;the only semi-relevant one was one that said to
press the Windows Logo key and the letter L key. I did that but all it did
was take it to my start-up screen and I stayed logged-on. I want to stay on
my screen with all of my icons and programs-not my main computer start-up
screen. Can anybody help me?

They have all kinds of gizmos these days so there may be a keyboard that
can be locked in the manner that you describe. However, I've never seen or
used one. A feature of this type (if available), would be a feature of the
keyboard (or keyboard software) and not the operating system.

If a laptop, there may be a feature already built in but again it would be
controlled by the keyboard or keyboard software. Refer to the laptop manual
or the help file for the keyboard/touchpad to see if it's supported.

If your KEYBOARD were LOCKED, how would you UNLOCK it? And what would the
purpose of locking the keyboard? To keep someone else from using your
computer? Your screen would still be visible, and quite a few things can be
done with just the mouse. And even if you were to lock the mouse also, it
could still be possible to meddle with your computer by inserting a disk.
Logging off keeps your system safe and more private.

Perhaps I just don't understand your question.

I appreciate all the post given. But what if someone only want to lock his
keyboard. Is there a way? As said in the post that it is very much depends on
keyboard or keyboard softare and locking the system is much better than
locking the keyboard.

However, I have 3 Intex Multimedia keyboard with a Fn key on the right hand
side. Pressing F11 + Fn key lock my keyboard only. To do this I don't have to
install any keyboard software either. It is supported by the keyboard.

See if there is a Fn key on your keypad.

This is the first site I got when I tried a search on Google:
http://pubs.logicalexpressions.com/pub0009/LPMArticle.asp?ID=70.

I am assuming you mean you want to lock the computer. I have used 2 ways
listed on this website with no problems. The only thing is if you lock you
computer, you won't see your normal desktop with icons. And if your
computer is locked, why would you anyway. There would be not point, would
there?
