Local Network Access Problem

Hi Can anyone shed some light on the following.....

I have two windows xp pro machines running sp2. One is multihomed with 2
nics.
Internal and External for broadband use. The ics works and I can access the
internet from both machines. However in network places I can't access my
local shares. Both computers show when I click on view workgroup computers.
When I then click on the computer icon it says access denied.
I use net view //computer name and I get system error 5 access is denied.

I can ping ip addresses and computer names. When I ping server I get my
external ip address. the machine with 1 nic has it's ip address by dhcp.
When I try the same on the 2 nic machine I get limited conectivity icon in
task bar. So I use static ip with enable netbios over tcp/ip in advanced
wins.

Don't want to be too detailed but that's the idea.....
Hope there is a solution to this thanks.

Thanks for your reply Robert but the answer is no. I'm logged in as
different usernames on both machines. Can't afford to do a re-install of
windows too much precious work would be lost. Anything else to suggest?
Thanks

Mark
