Local machine user accounts

Hello,

I need to automate the creation of local machine user accounts on about 150
XP machines. They do not belong to a domain. The GUI is to cumbersome. I have
searched the script repository but all I find is scripts for adding accounts
to AD. I need a script to add accounts with input from the workstation admin.

Thanks

As far as I know, you cannot automate creation of local accounts. I believe
you need a server and a domain to do this. Just out of curosity, why do you
not have a domain if you have 150 workstations, and what do you mean the GUI
is too cumbersome?

Christopher,

Actually it should be possible. I have been able to add a local user with
the net user command and a variable. The reason why these are not in a single
or even multiple domains is because they are police and other public safety
vehicles in 20 city agencies and one county. It gets complicated but
because of the wide number of variables it is not possible to control them by
domain. The main reason is that the users need to logon locally to allow them
to establish a vpn connection through a product called net motion. The short
time frame we have is what makes the gui way to add users to the machine to
slow and cumbersome. We will deploy these by the end of July. I am also
trying to set this up so the same steps can be replicated by other techs in
the middle of the night if they have to.

Thanks for the response
