local area connection:network cable unplugged,firewalled

my local area connection is saying:network cable unplugged and it's
firewalled.jst wanted 2 knw how 2 fix it in simple terms.
i've only had the internet 4 3 weeks and i dont knw wat version means,so im
jst gonna say windows xp home edition,,,,,acer aspire 3000,,,,,and thank u so
much in advance 2 any1 who gets wat im talkin bout.
