Loading Application Programs

I have two hard drives in my system (C:\ & D:\). I like to keep my
operating system on one drive (C:\) and all other programs on the
second drive (D:\). My problem is that some programs don't give me an
option and load the programs onto my (D:\). Is there a method that can
overide the programming and allows select where programs are loaded? I
would appreciate any help available.

Thanks in advance,

Bill

Nope.

And the problem here is?

Yep.
The only problem is in anticipating what environment variable is being used
by the install and then to change that temporarily before the install.

It's in the registry: HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion

Probably not. I don't see a reference to C: there (with windows on D:).
I was thinking more along the lines of %winbootdir%

In registry terms:
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup\
one of the many with boot in the name and pointing to C: something

or
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup\WinbootDir\C:\WIN98SE
