Linux fights assault with suicide threat

The current Bill before the European Parliament regarding e-patents may
indeed kill-off free and open-source software including Linux and possibly
Unix. Of course the community is entitled to protest and they have done so
by closing down their information and distribution sites. Effectively
creating the state we will be in if the law is passed. I think this action
is unwise and self defeating. Its like protesting against a mugging by
voluntarily shooting yourself.

No, I think they want all the people using their software to notice,
that it is not enough to say "how unfair". They want them to DO
something. If only developers would participate on demonstrations, the
effect would be zero. It needs the users to defend their rights.
But I nearly gave up on this.
Many of us, can not go to Straßbourgh easily and most of us don't even
write emails, letters or (best) do a phone call to their european
parliamentarian.
It is hard to see, how microsoft needs a change of laws to beat Linux,
even though they have 9x% of the market (they know why).

Mind that on these sites you have the clickable link
"usual access here"
which leads you to the usual site homepage.
