Linking to computers to see each other W2k and XP

Pauline

Hi,

I have 2 computers, one with xp and the other with Win 2k.
All I want is to get these two machines to see one
another. I have check my cross over cable and it is fine.
I just cannot get them to see each other. I have given
them both the same workgroup name and tried everything.
Can someone please tell me what I am doing wrong?
Shouldn't this be a pretty simple setup?
It is not necessary, but would be nice if I can get the xp
machine to connect to the Win2k machine - then out to the
Internet.
Could someone please help!
Many thanks in advance
Pauline

Connecting two machines is pretty simple, as long as you
observe the basic requirements. Turn off your firewalls during
testing (especially those that are integrated with your virus
scanner). If this does not help then run the following command
from the Command Prompt on each PC, and post the contents
of c:\ipconfig.txt.

ipconfig /all > c:\ipconfig.txt
