Linking New Tables

I've created some new tables in my database. These tables were not listed in
the Linked Table manager when I tried to refresh. How do I get them there?
I was careful to create the new table in the back end. However, I noticed
that the Switchboard Wizard placed its new table in the front end. Is this
how I should be doing it? That seems to defeat the purpose of splitting the
database in the first place. Will I have problems with letting the
Switchboard table reside in the front end? Please advise.

To answer your last question first, I've run into problems when the
Switchboard Manager table is in the BE. For example if you make a change to
the Switchboard will working with a development BE, you then need to update
the production BE. Therefore I prefer to keep the Switchboard Items table in
the FE.

To link new tables, go to File, Get External Data, Link Tables.

Double check that you've placed the new tables in the BE that's connected to
the FE. Let's just say that I know someone who once made changes to a backup
copy of the BE file. Yea. It was me.

Also make sure to select "Always prompt for a new location." when in Linked
Table Manager.

your life would be a lot easier if you just used Access Data Projects

it doesn't require needless crap lke the linked table manager

I mean.. FILE, NEW, PROJECT (Existing Data)

In the case of the Switchboard's table, it shouldn't make any
difference to the operation whether the table is in the BE (you split
the app after the Switchboard was created) or the FE (you split the
app before the Switchboard was created).
