Linking a pdf

Hi

I want to print a pdf image in a report.

I have done it with a .jpg and it worked perfectly. However, for a pdf, i
get a runtime error 2114, saying that Access doesn't support this format. Is
there a way to make it work without changing the pdf format of the images?

Many thanks

You don't indicate how you are trying to do this. Some versions of Access,
combined with specific versions of Acrobat support this capability well. If
you are using the latest version of Acrobat (v7), you can use the Insert ->
Object and choose Create from File and it will insert the pdf document on
your report and print well. Previous versions of Acrobat, namely v 5 and 6,
may not work with Access well at all, because the OLE container control
released by Adobe wasn't compatible with an Access report's OLE container
interface. One work around with these versions, if you have Access 2002 or
greater, is to insert the pdf file on a form, and then add the form as a sub
report to your report.

Well here's what I want to do...

I created a database on the hydrants of o city. For each hydrant, there is a
plan of the surroundings indicating its position in the city. Instead of
creating an Ole container control for each hydrant, I created a textbox in my
hydrant table containing the path of the desired plan. Then, in my report, I
refer to the path and the plan appears, with other hydrant information. It
worked perfectly when the plans were in .jpg . The plans are to no longer be
in .jpg but now in .pdf and it does not seem to work. I'm using access
2000...

I don't think the proposed work around will solve the problem.

Is there a way to make this work, or do I have to change the format of the
new plans?
Will I have the same compatibility problem if I use a .dwg (autocad
extension)?

Thanks for helping!!!
