Linked Table and Read Only Issue

Hi,

I have a database that exports a few tables into another database by a make
table. That other database is in a shares so that others can utilize the
tables through excel. I have several excel spreadsheets linked to that access
database, I have done this before but the only difference I did this time was
I set up the excel files to refresh data on file open in the "External Data
Range Properties". I have went back to my previous way which was a macro that
just refreshes the data upon clicking the macro through a button.

Now when I go to do my make tables or open up the Access database in my
shares I am only allowed read only.

"The database 'xxxx' is read-only"
"You won't be able to save changes made to data or obejct definitions in
this database"

Is there a way I can get back normal access???

I figured it out... I knew it was an awkward fix but just in case someone
else has this issue.

Heres the steps:

1. The database you exported your table to can not be read only.
2. Open up the database (not in read only)
3. Go to the linked excel files.
4. Refresh them.

Somehow you take back the administrative rights by being in both the excel
files and access at the same time. When others go into the files now they
don't cause your database to go to read only.
