Linked Animations on a Disc

I have two animations I'm linking to the PPT file. I have them housed in a
seperate file from the PPT file, and when I click the link, it can't find the
file. I am able to browse to the file on my hard drive and fix the problem,
however as I am putting this on a CD for others to use, they will not have
access to my hard drive. How do I get PowerPoint to play the animation file
in the neighboring folder on the disc?

You can save the animations and the powerpoint file on the CD and they
will work properly. Make sure that you have them all in the same folder
before transferring to the CD, and make sure that the links for the
animations are fixed as well. Since they come from different folders on
your hard drive, you will need to make sure they are all on the CD.

I hope this helps.

I would like to expand on what I stated earlier. I would copy the
powerpoint file and the animation files into a folder (say on your
Desktop). Once those three files are in the same folder, you can
right-click your hyperlinks within the presentation file and fix them to
link to the other two files. From there, you can transfer them on the
CD. Within the "Edit Hyperlink" dialog box, you can actually click the
"Open Folder" button and locate the file or files you wish to link to.

I hope this clarifies what I stated earlier.

If you use Package for CD, it will resolve the links for you. (I assume the
animations you're linking to are videos?) I usually recommend that users use
File | Package for CD, then choose Copy to Folder. This puts the PPT file
and the linked files in a folder you designate on your harddrive. If you
opted to include the PPT Viewer, those files are included along with
autorun.INF and BAT files to autorun the CD.

Then use CD burning software (Roxio, Nero, etc.) to burn the files (not the
folder itself -- just the contents of the folder) to the CD.
