Link to an Excel spreadsheet in read-only mode

Can you link to an Excel spreadsheet in read-only mode? The reason I need to
do this is because I have linked my Access database to an Excel spread sheet
in order to be able to make an sql query but it I open the same mdb file on
anoter pc and run the same query.Then I get an error like this "The
microsoft jet database engine cannot open the file 'data.xls'. It is already
opened exclusively by another user, or you need permission to view it's
data" What can I do ?

This is an Excel issue. What you need to do is make the workbook shared. In
your workbook menu, select Tools, Share Workbook. Set it to allow mulitple
users
