line numbers

Hi: I have Word 2003. I'm typing a legal transcript with 24 lines printed
on the page. Once in awhile, the 24th line bounces to the next page, leaving
only 23 lines on the preceding page. It's almost like the last two lines I
typed are stuck together but won't stay on the preceding page, they stick
together and go to the next page.

I am typing on a template. How do I fix this? Thanks.

Check out "Control widow and orphan lines" in Help > Control Pagination.

This is probably caused by the Widow/Orphan control which prevents a single
line of text in a paragraph from appearing at the top or bottom of the page.
You can turn it off in the Paragraph dialog box (or you can modify the
Paragraph settings for the paragraph style you are using).

Thank you both so much. It worked!
