Line-Column Chart

A

Andrew

I am trying to create a chart showing individual points using the columns
against 1 y-axis and lines representing the cumulative sum of the individual
points against the second y-axis. How can you select a data series and be
able to convert the series to a column or a line respectively. I can not
seem to figure out how excel chooses which series are columns and which are
lines. Selecting which series goes to which y-axis does not seem to matter.

Thankyou in advance
Andrew

This may not be the 'official' method but....

I make a normal column chart using the columns data
(the source table has column data only)

then INSERT the secondary axis line data into the original table making
it the first column of data in the table

then add the source data of the chart:
Series tab
'add' and complete the inserted column's name and value location fields

then change the chart type:
Custom Type tab
Line - Column on 2 Axes
