Limited users can no longer access Internet

On a workgroup PC, running Windows XP Pro with SP 2, suddenly user level
accounts can no longer access the Internet or e-mail. If I add them to the
Administrators group, they will have access but that is an unacceptable
workaround. I even created a new, test user account to see if it was a
matter of corrupt profiles but the new user also has no Internet access.
These accounts can ping out by IP address but cannot ping by name. IPCONFIG
shows that they have their dynamically assigned DNS settings. I am the only
administrator of this machine. To my knowledge nothing has changed that could
affect user rights to access the Internet. The computer is free of viruses
and spyware. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks for the suggestions. I will try them as soon as I get back to the
machine in question. I do run Ad-Aware, Spybot and Spyware Blaster, and keep
them updated. So I think spyware is only a remote possibility. I will give
CWShredder a try. And I will try the winsock repair as well.

Hi,
This might be a winsock problem. See if something here helps:

Or, this problem with limited users can be caused by malware. Have you run
CWShredder, Ad-aware and Spybot? http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm
