limited access to wireless connection

Hi all,

I have Vista installed and running fine except for the wireless connection.
When I try to connect to my router, I keep getting an error saying
"connected but with limited access only" and I don't have access to the
internet.
The card is properly recognized, I don't know why I get this limited access
error.

The Xp installation works fine...

Any idea? Setting that I missed out?

Thanks

I get the same error message a few minutes after I log on to my pc. The
first 5 minutes or so the internet works fine, though. I try to diagnose the
problem but it could never fix it. I've tried to disable the network device
yet it won't let me. it gets stuck trying for a long time. By then i just
end the process. If I reboot, then the connection will work again, but stil
for a few minutes only.

Anyone knows what else i can do???

Thx
Marco

Hi Marco,

1. Do you have the latest firmware installed on your access point?

2. Which adapter do you have? Are you using the latest driver from the
manufacturer? (Or which wireless driver are you using?)

Thanks.

here is a little more info. when i first log on, the connection will stay
on until a few minutes i start using internet explorer. i noticed if i don't
use the internet, the connection will remain in good condition. i tried the
power management options as someone else recommended for this same problem
but didn't work. now i know it might be linked to internet explorer.
somehow it's making my connection limited to where i can't use the internet.

anyone having this problem? any solution yet? or suggestion?

My only suggestion is to make sure your router firmware is up to date.

CN reported a similar issue with the same driver in this newsgroup already
and we have also seen some similar behavior internally as well.

We will investigate and see if there is something we do.

I have heard that the XP drivers for those cards should work though.
