Limit to number of files in a PDA directory ?

Is there a limit to the number of files you can store in a PDA
directory ? I am developing a medical application (blood
gas/electrolytes) and the results and information from each test is
stored in an xml file. Each file is about 3K. Today FileStream started
throwing an exception whenever I tried to create a new file in the
directory. The directory containing the tests had 1299 files. Once I
cleaned out the directory, the exceptions stopped.

Is there a limit to the number of files (or size) of a directory on a
pocket pc ?

any info is appreciated

I would think it has the same rules as a desktop computer. There used to
(not sure if there still is) be a limit on how many files the root (c:\,
d:\) directory could have but not on any sub directories.

You probably could have written an app to test this in very short order. :)

I did. 40,000 files and no complaints. I guess this wasnt the problem.
I am continuing to investigate.
