Limit on pst file

I have had Outlook 2003 installed for a few years now. The outlook.pst file
has finally reached 2 GB and I am getting the error "Can't move the file. The
file .... has reached it's maximum size. . . " A search of the knowledgebase
turns up the article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/832925/en-us. However,
when I look in the registry, the keys referred to in this article don't
exist! I upgraded from Outlook 2000 to Outlook 2003. I've tried repairs and
reinstalls. Still get the same problem. Any suggestions would be greatly
appreciated.

If you upgraded from OL2000 to 2003, and did not manually create a
Unicode-format PST file in OL2003 and then copy or move data into it from
the old one, I don't think you'll be able to do anything other than run the
crop utility to try & get at least some of your data back.

Upgrading doesn't change the PST file format, unfortunately.
Reinstalling Outlook won't help, either - the problem is with the file
itself.
Do you have backups of your PST file from before this happened?

greater than 2GB. Open it with Outlook, then try to drag-and-drop items
or folders from the old PST file to the new one.

Chances are that OL2003 did not damage the file when it reached its
maximum size, but just issued the error message.

Glad to help.

You should create a new Unicode-format PST file, and copy your data to it -
and make it your delivery location in your mail profile so you can start
using it as your primary file.
