Limit a child's time on computer

Yeah, sure. Make the computer responsible for your inability to be a
good parent.

I don't want to have to keep track of the time, 11:17 to 11:55, 1:03
to 1:23, etc. This is a perfect job for a computer.

Are you running XP or 2000?

If so, the first thing I'd do is set up separate userids for
myself and the other person - with separate passwords.

I'm thinking that there has tb something in XP and/or 2000 that
times out a userid based on clock time/calendar day.

XP. i already had separate accounts, but I need something to track
the time.

If you can hear what she is doing, why can't you also monitor the amount of
time?

Because I would have to keep track of it manually. I would have to
note the time when she starts and stops. I would have to total it up.
This is a perfect job for a computer.

I use the following product and I am very pleased with it's performance.

I think it was around $30.00
With KidsWatch Time Control you can:

Thanks, that is what I'm looking for. I'm trying the other product
that was suggested, but I'll look at this one too.

Try out PC Chaperone (http://www.pc-chaperone.com)

I've done a lot of research on parental controls and have found this
to be the easiest and most flexible of any. It has more features then
any other program and some that I haven't seen anywhere else, like the
ability to set limits on how long a user can view a specific web page.
I use this a lot to control the amount of time my kids spend on
myspace and facebook since it doesn't affect limit the time they can
spend on other sites

You really seem to not understand that any software or script that you
use to limit her time can be bypassed. If your child doesn't know how,
someone she knows or meets does. I won't tell you how to raise your
kid(s), but I will tell you that the computer can't do it for you.

Well, the software seems to be working so far.

How about an alarm clock or a kitchen timer?

That would never work because she is on for a while, then off. With
her having to log in, the software keeps track of the time for me.

I can show you how to limited the days, time frame for connectivity. But it
affects all users on the pc. The child could not mod this method. is the
child on his/her own system?
