Life after SP2

SP2 installation went fine, and all my programs seem to work OK. Are there
any old files I can safely erase from SP1?

Also, I'm looking at the half gig file called System Volume
Information\catalog.wci\10001000.ci
I Googled to try to figure it out, and I tried turning Index Services on and
off -- didn't seem to matter.

Installing SP2 removes other hotfix backups, so there is usually nothing
left for you to remove.
Also, I'm looking at the half gig file called System Volume

That is for System Restore. You should leave it alone. If you turn off
System Restore, or run disk cleanup with the advanced options set to remove
older points, then the folder will reduce in volume. Otherwise, you should
leave it alone.
