She usually favors people in situations like yours. A
boyfriend/girlfriend,
or employer who accepts a gift from someone who believes that the
relationship will continue, and is then dumped or fired shortly after, and
it's obvious that the receiver of the gift accepted it knowing that he/she
was going to terminate the relationship, accepted that gift under false
pretenses.

If you don't want to go that far: If you didn't put anything in writing
declaring that you relinquished ownership of the system, spend the $35 or
so
to file in small claims court for the return of your property. Rather
than
go to court and look like an ass, your former employer will offer to
return
it to you. But, if you don't want the system, let the business have it,
and
use it for a tax write off. As for the software, if as someone else
mentioned, it was OEM (bundled on the system) it is considered to be part
of
the system. Any software which you purchased separately is your property,
unless you included it with your "gift." At any rate, if you have the
CDs
and licenses, and he ever has to reinstall, he's out of luck.

I was recently fired by my boss who is basically using me
as a capegoat for bldg, health and safety issues he has
finally been caught for. My big problem is 3 days before
he fired me in an effort to make productivity in the office
better I offered to donate my computer (his was a very
early pentium with something like 80MB for ram) and nothing
was loading right. Even though he knew he was going to
fire me he lured me into signing the gift of my computer.
Now that he has fired me I do understand I lost the
computer (have a newer one so thats no big deal) however
all the programs on the computer I never gave license to
him or the company they are all registered in my name
individually. It includes Windows XP and Office 2000.
When I tried to go to the office to say the programs were
mine the new manager (an ex motorcycle cop from LA)
threatened to physically stop me. What are my legal
options, after all the programs are single proprietary
licenses right?

I don't believe anyone said that. I believe David was talking about how

assume David) can't get are responses to those people on to the server,

alt.someone.who.gives.a.*f* *u* *c* *k*.about.what.you.watch.on.TV

Recently, a guy name art replied to me using the "S" word:

http://groups.google.com/[email protected]

Yet my first two of my replies were pulled from the server, a third
attempt never even made it on the server, eventhough I actually censored
the "S" word on my own, so on my fourth try I finally just gave a link
to the google archive of the post.

I don't think that anyone really expects to get away with cursing over
MS's servers, as I doubt that anyone really thinks MS is a defender of
human rights, like free speech, but the capricious nature of ya'lls
filtering is definitely mindboogling sometimes.

Personally, if your company has a "no cursing policy for these MS
groups, MS has everyright to pull them, but treat EVERYBODY in the same
manner. As it seems to me, I have to operate under MS rules that do not
apply to all that post here.

What are my legal options,

This isn't the answer you want but, gather up a few bucks and see an
attorney. You have a possible wrongful termination suit, the software
is a minor thing. Find a good attorney and talk to him/her/it, follow
his/her/it's advice.
