License restrictions when reinstalling windows xp

OK... I have perfectly legal, fully registered XP installation. I am able to
download updates etc..

My computer has started to act a little eratically and the problems I have
(which are too numerous to list here) are starting to become a little
irritating and I have decided to go for a complete re-install of my XP OS.

I know that when XP is installed it creates an 'Installation Key'.

Is this Key different for every installation and thus, will it render my
installation bootleg if I reinstall after registering once already.?

I am a little worried that Uncle Bill will stop me downloading updates for a
perfectly legal, single license installation on my machine because of a
potentially different installation key.

Sometimes, nothing is better for clearing the cobwebs away than a
straightforward reinstall of XP, can I do this??

Yes, and you should have no problem activating again.

There is no restriction to reinstalling and reactivating repeatedly on the
same hardware, regardless of whether this is an OEM or a retail version.

You can reinstall as many times as you want on the same system with XP
and the same license key. Activation normally is done automatically on
the internet but may require a phone call if it was less than 120 days
since the last time.

There's no limit to the number of times you can reinstall and
activate the same WinXP license on the same PC. Nor is there ever a
charge. Nor does a Product Key (so long as it's not an evaluation
license) ever expire. If it's been more than 120 days since you last
activated that specific Product Key, you'll most likely be able to
activate via the Internet without problem. If it's been less, you might
have to make a 5 minute phone call.

Here are the facts pertaining to activation:
